Overview

Billboards are an effective way of publicizing the 877-WHY-ISLAM Dawah hotline 877-WHY-ISLAM website. These billboards usually have a religious/spiritual message with an invitation to call the toll free number or visit the website for free literature.

Guidelines
Following are some guidelines for setting up 877-WHY-ISLAM Dawah billboards:
  1. Inform 877-WHY-ISLAM Project about your intention to put up a billboard. The 877-WHY-ISLAM Project will support your Dawah efforts in terms of receiving the calls on the toll free line and the requests for free literature. However, the cost of the billboard must be borne by the community where the billboard will be put up.

  2. Find out the major media companies in your area. To start with, work with the company that has smaller billboards, as they are inexpensive as compared to the bigger billboards. Also find out if the media company gives lower rates to non-profit organizations. For instance, PNE Media LLC, based in New Jersey, charges non-profit organizations half the rent it charges commercial organizations.

  3. Have your artwork ready. Examples of the artwork are enclosed in this package. This artwork should clearly give the toll free number and website.

  4. Ask the media company for a list of billboards in the area in which you would like to advertise. If possible, have one person from the company accompany you when you visit the site.

  5. Select the billboard, based on its visibility and prominence. Drive by the billboard a few times, to check the probability of a motorist noticing the billboard.

  6. Finalize deal with Media Company, once you like the site. Submit your artwork. Remember to ask the media company to show you the final artwork that will be displayed, as this may be slightly different from the one you have submitted.
