Did Muslims divided into main sects which is sunni and shia after this karbala tragedy or War between Hazarat Ali and father of Yazid Hazarat Ameer Mahwia. My question is to all Muslims Umma any sect please answer my question. I lived in USA and here Non-Muslims asked me such question why Sunni-Shia fights with each others. Please explain. Jazakullah Khair. May Allah Curse Be On Yazid. Donot wanna say that coz Prophet Muhammad PBUH S.A.W didn't wants that we should blashmed (BaadDua) to even our enemy.

Hello Brothers and Sister As-Salaam-O-Alikyum! May Peace and Blessing With You All.

Please feel free to answer my question.Coz i am half and half meaning Sunni-Shia from Father and Mother sides. And this is one of the biggest tragedy which Muslim Umma are facing now-a-days. May Allah reunite us as a one sect that is ISLAM. Which our beloved prophet suggested us from Allah will to his followers. Ameen Sum Ameen

Instead of asking why there is a Shia-Sunni split, maybe the better qestion is how Shias and Sunnis can reconcile their differences, accept each other as true Muslims, and move forward to unite the Ummah.

AA Tomshaikh,

The next time someone ask you why Sunni & Shia fight, show them this video, it's less than 7 min. long but very well put ==> http://youtube.com/watch?v=iMhgt3JRqeU

A brother here called Al-Cordoby brought it to our attention and I've used it ever since with people who ask the same question as you.

Welcome to the Forum by the way,

Hello M.A.R.W.A.N, Thanks for the video, i saw this before and Inshallah my next post will be about IMAM Mahdi. This video is in favour with sunni islam not shia coz the speaker mentioned shia same like christian which is not. Only they are similar in a way is that Christians are waiting for Jesus PBUH and Shia waiting for their Imam Mahdi which is the son of 11th Imam Hasan Askari and one thing which i am against this video is that he mentioned that Imam Mahdi has on and off talking with person who is incharge with shiaism. It used to be talking between persons but not now no body know where is he (The Mahdi) and Imam Mahdi A.S will be appeared in the last days with the will of Allah. Note it is not mentioned in The Quran Sharif about Imam Mahdi appearence like Jesus PBUH mentioned in The Quran Sharif. Prophet Muhammad said so in hadith that he will be from my decendant. Allah knows better.

Completely true Honu if we only know that they have many many similarities and in true Islam there's no such divisions. A Muslim is called a Muslim not a Shia netheir a Sunni.

My simple and from my own point of view answer is , first anytime where bloodshed happens among muslims is a indeed a very sad time.

Secondly I do not recongnize sects the only sect is recongnize is the muslim sect .Meaning Does it say anywhere in the Quran or the hadith do be a sunni ,shia, etc, etc ..The prophet was a muslim ,neither shia or muslim ,and neither were the sahaba and neither was Ali .They were all plain and simple ,just muslims.

Everything is stated clearly in the Quran and Hadith anyone to adds anything to these is truly misguided ,but that does not mean I'm saying is not a muslim ,just misguided .

We should all stop paying attention to these diffrences mostly put forward but ill-learned so called imams and scholars with ulterior motives.

I believe god has given most of us enough intellect to read and decide on what is right and what is wrong .We should not be reading literature from these so called scholars .Instead read the QURAN and Hadith and Inshallah Allah will guide us .

I know there is much hatred among these sects specially in the southeast asian countries but in actuality the poor people are being manipulated by the quasi politician -religious scholars for personal gains. There is even hatred in these countries among the sunnis for some belonging to whabi'ism or salafi;ism etc etc .The whole root of the problem is the people themselfves dont have/get the knowledge themselfves.

As for me ..I am a Muslim PERIOD

Salaam bro DD

Hatred among sects in the south east asian countries? Hmm..

We here in south east asia thought it's mostly in middle-east that such hatred among sunni and shia prevail.

But I don't really know.

As for the video, there's nothing new in that lecture..you can find exactly the same information in many books.

Hi desertdude, What do you conclude if you believes on hadith about imam mahdi arrival. Shia said that he is son of imam askari whereas sunni said that he will have same father & mother names as Prophet of Islam has.. What your thoughts about that. Please light on this.

To Bro traveller ,the hatred I was talking about is mostly in the asian subcontinient i.e : mostly pakistan,India and somewhat in Iran ,but mostly in pakistan.

To tomshaikh, regarding the Iman I have no formal opninion as this matter does not really concern the muslim ummah right now.We will all find out about the Imam when he does come. The matter is very similar to the second comming of Jesus among muslims and chirstians .Both are waiting for the arrival of the prophet ,and both have diffrent views about him.So when the Imam does show up we shall find out.

We should be more concerned with whats going on now ,instead of waiting for these prophecies to come true.As it totally futile to be discussing these things ,when there are more urgent matters at hand now.

These sort of things do nothing but increase the divide among the muslims.I personally don't like any labels muslim keep putting on them selfs like shi'a and sunni and what not .I personally think we should steer clear from these kind of labels ,Did the prophet or the shahaba call them selves anything other than muslims ?Did they say they were shi'a or sunni ,I think not .

I have seen some really deplorable videos on the net ,where the shi'a and sunnis,in order to discredit each other have even gone as far as to have insulted the sahaba's.Which i find truly disgusting .

All this talk of shia and sunni can really bring no good .Like I said we should all follow the teachings of the Quran and Hadiths ,and follow those to the best of our ablities and not quibble over such small matters as the bloodline of the yet to come Imam.We can argue for decades about that ,but what will we achive ? Lets say either is true ,So what ?Does that make any diffrence to the teachings of the quran and hadith ?Is it a matter of fiqh ?

How can we forward the cause of the deen ul haq when we can't even see eye to eye.Thats why I revere reverts bro and sis more as most of them can see past this and see the true religion, and don't have generations of brain washing involved from their parents and peers .

My personal wish that there were no Shias ,no Sunnis ,no Dawoodis ,No ismailis ,No anything just Muslims
